Collection: Money in politics
Description: Campaign contribution data for the state of Connecticut is managed by the State Elections Enforcement Commission (SEEC). The data can be obtained from the SEEC Campaign Reporting Information System (eCRIS) public search portal. Files from 1999 to 2020 were combined into a single file with shared columns. Each record represents a single expenditure made from a campaign committee to a sales vendor, another campaign, or as a loan repayment. The full data set contains all original variables and new variables added with minimally, consistently, and confidently normalized character strings. These normalized strings are those searched from the Accountability database. Data was processed using R software and is documented on the Accountability Project GitHub repository.
Additional Notes: Columns differ by file type and year. See the "source_file" and "source_type" columns in the combined datafile.
